Violin / Viola Lessons
As a Music Educator I have held the positions of Co-Head of Music at Ballarat Clarendon College and that of Head of Strings at Geelong Grammar School, Presbyterian Ladies College (Melbourne) and Brighton Grammar.
I have taught violin and viola for over 20 years from beginner to advanced levels in schools in Victoria, Tasmania and the ACT and in my private studio. I have prepared students for all levels of Trinity, ABRSM and AMEB examinations including A.Mus.A. and L.Mus.A. diplomas as well as the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and for International Baccalaureate final recitals. At both the Australian National University’s Canberra School of Music and the University of Tasmania’s Conservatorium, I have taught violinists in the pre-tertiary - Gifted Students program.
In my teaching practice, I have drawn on various string methodologies and pedagogical approaches including Roland, Sheila Nelson, Suzuki and Colour Strings. I also use evidence-based teaching strategies and make it a priority to make myself aware of my students’ learning strengths when teaching individual instrumental lessons. Different methods suit different students and I can draw on a wealth of experience, to assist each individual to master their instrument step by step.
Private Violin / Viola Terms and Conditions
Private Lessons are one on one, and take place in Glen Iris, Melbourne.
Specialising in teaching students Grade 5 AMEB and above.
A trial lesson will be arranged before a student begins regular lessons. After a trial lesson both teacher and student must mutually agree before proceeding to regular lessons.
Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur the lesson fee. A message on my mobile or home phone is best. Please do not email lesson cancellations.
Lessons missed due to teacher unavailability will be made up at a mutually convenient time.
Fee Structure
$100 per hour
$75 per 45 minutes
$50 per 30 minutes.
Weekly payment of lessons.
N.B. Trial lessons are charged at the same rate.
